okaes.. here is mine.. haha.. thousand apologies for sending in late. ayes, i dun have a video but i do have some ideas..i hope i am able to make myself clear..

was thinking of dancing without lights i.e. to dance with white lights that means only showing our shadow as the main dish. so if there is a trio, den three shadows. yeaps!^^

luke 15--> the parable of the lost sheep/coin/son

theme: portraying anxiety and anguish
genre: lyrical jazz/ emo movements they call
stage: using nexus stage
song: i have the song but cant upload, den no title, it is a music piece. =D
(ask me on msn! =D)

becus u lost something/someone precious and u would do everything to find it back, the determination of it. think the music will play a larger role in this.

trio representing the different parable but one common feel.. anguish and helplessness.
so the intro and building up of the song will allow each individual to engage the audience with their anguish moves and den the climax of the music would be the canon movements of the trio..the last 1 min of the song they will dance tgt and end off as one straight line..

"Imagine a sermon will be preached on Luke 15, and you have been requested to choreo a dance to support the sermon. How will you do it?" Explain your concept, genre, and suggest songs if possible. No need to illustrate actual steps.

hmmm, i think my idea would be pretty cliche, don't mind me! it's a dance to support the sermon right? so shouldn't be too long.

i think i would start off with the light focussed on the left side of the stage, where there is a woman and 9 other kids, playing and dancing together, until like suddenly the woman halt and shush her kids and gave a headcount. she counted once and was frightened, and counted again. shock by the fact that she counted nine instead of ten, she rubbed her eyes and counted once more. then she dashed away to look for the missing kid.

light will switch focus to the middle of the stage where the woman dance in fear and lost, pacing and running and turning in circles on tt area. a lot of crouching, pulling her action, rummaging of hair tt sort of things. (don't mind me, i can't exactly do contemp). as she was one the floor crying, she heard something and picked herself up.

light will switch focus to the right side of the stage when she found the missing kid, an has an obvious change in emotion, dance in a way that illustrate overflowing joy together with the missing kid. together they went to the centre stage where the other nine kids are and all of them we jumping and hopping and dancing with joy!

hahaha, jiali said no need to illustrate steps, but i illustrated it le. paiseh!
so genre: contemp.
contemp cos i felt it's easier to express emotions and get the idea across.
songs: hmmm, i can't think of any. but it's best with songs tt has a variation in beat. i don't even know whether they exist. hahaha.

i wanted to illustrate the parables out one by one, but i felt that it'll be too long. and what's more i wanted to give this a new parable, and someting we can relate to God directly. i was thinking maybe showing kids can relate us as children of God and that we do matter even as an individual. until now i'm still considering whether to put a father or a mother for the dance, cos father would imply God, but mothers are more expressive in their search for a lost child.

sorry if this is brief, first time! give grace!

Look who's doing it too!

For those who attended our June WAM night and watched the dances, the algorithm dance should not be unfamiliar to you. Was watching the tv just now and learned about this.

They actually have other dances as well. But those take a little longer to load. There is one that looks really good, like professional dancers. Look how dance can be influencing people in ways we can't even imagine! Creative! I like!

4 more days to 1 sept.......who's gonna be the first?

Luke 15

Okay for the choreo group... here's your assignment. In case some of you deleted my sms happily.

"Imagine a sermon will be preached on Luke 15, and you have been requested to choreo a dance to support the sermon. How will you do it?" Explain your concept, genre, and suggest songs if possible. No need to illustrate actual steps.

Expecting your answers by 1 sept. Let's stretch our creativity! :D

P.S. From this sat onwards, will be partitioning america room to allow anniversary dance practice and rehearsal. Our attendance for past few trainings is dismal. On a happier note, this week is auditions, psycho all your sheep to come! lol.

101th post!

The next round of auditions is coming up on 25/8. As usual they need to prepare a dance routine so that we can access their skill. Do let those you know are interested know about it early, so they can start planning their dance. Let me know their names too.

And I'm just doing a check, if you still read this blog, tag. Appreciate it, thanks!
