The Big Groove
It was an eye-opener for me to witness and be part of the largest hip hop dance workshop conducted in singapore. Organised by O school, part of the Shine festival under MCYS, I must say that it was tough but wonderful coordinating by the organisers.
Perks of the entire workshop were free admission, free t-shirts for first 100 online registration, free bottles of water given during the dance to hydrate us, plenty of ushers to ensure our bags are kept orderly and can be located quickly at the end of the workshop, lots of groovy and inspiring performances, pump-it-up music blast the way it should, and of course learning the steps itself from the 3 superb instructors.
First up was Ryan from O school, teaching a routine that was mostly new school hip hop. It was mostly locking and quick drops. This is my favourite routine of the three.
Then we had Ann from NRA, teaching new school hip hop also. Her routine contained mostly points, crumping (?) and hand movement. It was quite easy to catch and fun to dance to.
Last session was conducted by Lionel from LADC, teaching old school hip hop. His routine contained skittles, purely skittles. It was the easiest to remember but the hardest to execute. Basically skittles was (to me) not a very easy step to grasp. 2 halfs, 1 full, 1 double, 1 around the world, 1 half, 1 full (to the floor), hand and BAM! That's the whole routine.
Other than the dance sessions, there were also performances put up by the various schools and the last Funkamania winners. They were certainly impressive and indeed, we still need to work triply hard (with God) to get there! =)
Anyway I hope to really teach you guys what I learnt over the next few dance trainings but there's a really big problem, which is no music. I have completely no idea what songs they used other than the one by Ryan which went something like "one for the money, two for the show". I suppose the songs are all popular songs, just that I don't have that large a song library. :S
We'll settle that again later, but am glad to hear so many conversions taking place over the past 2 weeks. Hope that Closests has been enjoyable to you and your friends!

i always trust that God will be faithful when we work hard in His ways =D let's constantly evaluate on our life and always renew our own life with God =D our relationship with God is the most essential or rather , one that we cannot lose . even if we chiong so hard but if out life with God is lousy , all that we've done is redundant . let's keep watch over each other's life and remind one another to pray for ourself and stuff . haha .
so now . . .
who do you think will win ?
is it France or Italy ?
and of course i support France ! =D
all out for Jesus ,
denise =D

i jus wanna add on to wat jiali said on the last entry.
let's not jus outreach to the ones we noe and just the ppl arnd us.
let's outreach to THOSE WE DO NOT KNOW and those who dusnt even noe they are in the kingdom of darkness.
let's make the effort to walk the extra mile, and bring them back to Daddy.
and with EVERY SINGLE ONE's effort, 1000 is jus a piece of cake!
even 5000 would be jus peanuts!!
so i wanna encourage everyone, irregardless of you being a spiritual giant, or jus a spiritual baby like me, ALL OF US can make it.
Daddy told me He's already all geared and ready to help us along the way.
now all it takes is OUR effort to start the whole engine moving!
we plant the seed and Daddy's gonna help us grow it in others!
and once again, DISCONTENTMENT!
let's not be complacent even if we reach our targets.
let's overshoot it!
let's be spurred on to save EVEN MORE PPL.
come on brothers and sisters!
let's chiong together!
let's run the race together!
love.
qixin. =)

All of us (yes, me included), let's do our best for this Breakthrough 1000! No way are we going to be so selfish to keep the best things in life to ourselves, let's share it with our dearest friends and family and see this family expanding! :)
"If I reach out to 1 person every month, I only touch 12 lives a year. If I touch 1 life everyday, that would be 365 lives a year." (Sharlene, 2006)

Anyway, please feel free to post in this place. Share testimonies, what you've learnt recently in trainings or dance classes outside, interesting videos, photos of costumes, wonderful dance tracks, announcements and so on! Basically treat this place like your own blog. :)
To start off, I'll share about yesterday's 'Hip Hop with Christine'. We learnt about Funk, the distinct style in Hip hop that is largely associated with oldies. We started with warm-ups like body isolation, and progressed to the routine which contained lots of pointing and staying low.
Three essential parts of Funk:
1. staying low and hunching
2. head and chest isolation
3. pointing
It was great fun even without the music. The even better news? I woke up this morning having muscle aches in my tummy. I was sure to have burnt off some fats yesterday!
