Romeo is a re-imagination of Shakespeare's enduring love classic, Romeo & Juliet by up-and-coming Japanese physical theatre company, Fujiyama Annette. The central character, Romeo, is used as a representation of notions of male identity and masculinity.

Named after an imaginary French-Japanese iconic model, the company puts on unique performances that combine video projections, dance, music and art design. Though often labelled a dance company, Fujiyama Annette considers itself a theatre group that uses body movement to replace words. Each project begins with scripted dialogue, which is replaced with movement as the performance develops.
